Road from IBM to handyman franchise

Thought you might be interested in some info on one of our newest franchisees. I always remember when I became a franchisee. I went to the first Convention thinking everyone would be like me. The amazing thing was that everyone was different. People come from different industries and careers but all had found themselves at a crossroads. There career had led them on a journey that had taken them to a point where business ownership or franchising was indeed an option or a road that they could travel. When choosing that road they found many travelers who would be joining them. The exciting thing about franchising was that they had an immediate bond with the others they met as they now traveled the same road together.

The road from IBM to handyman franchise

George Wasickanin whose career started with IBM in the 70's is the latest franchisee to open one of our House Doctors handyman and remodeling franchises. George plans to bring professional handyman and remodeling services to homeowners in the Rochester, New York area.
George’s father had worked for IBM so it was a natural progression for George in '79 to start his career in computer maintenance with IBM. George worked on the Kodak Park account in Rochester till 1984. and experienced IBM's leading training during that period. He attended many IBM training classes on everything from the infancy of telecommunications and disk technology to advanced computer systems. George left IBM in 1985 to start his own computer maintenance business where he maintained his competitive edge by satisfying customers needs and following through on promises so he did not let people down. He sold that business and returned to the Corporate world where his career path took him in a Sales and Management direction. However his entrepreneur journey still had some miles in it. While a Systems Administrator with Crosman Corporation he decided to look into franchising and learned about House Doctors.
We are pleased that George is bringing his IBM skills and his understanding of good customer service to our network. He expects to see continual growth in home repairs and remodeling in the Rochester, New York area. He knows a lot of the markets across the country are booming and the House Doctors professional approach and high ethics is what keeps customers coming back. George's goal lines up with HD that is to provide the best quality work and the best customer service for his customers. If you feel that would be important in any business you would like to be involved in please contact me.
Is good customer service important for a new business? Please comment.

Learn Exactly Why Franchising and the Home Improvement Industry are the Perfect Match

When it comes to starting a business, there are two basic paths you can follow. The first path is to do everything from scratch. While some people initially believe that sounds appealing, the reality is it can completely drain your time, energy and resources before you ever have an opportunity to really get the ball rolling.

The other path you can take is to basically bypass all the issues associated with the first path by becoming a franchise owner. Although succeeding as a franchise owner still requires a lot of hard work, the big advantage is you're not trying to move forward without actually knowing where you should be going. Instead, a franchise allows you to tap directly into a business model that's already been successful.

Franchising is Big Business

Many people are unaware of the massive role that franchises play in the economy. To put the size of franchises in perspective, they employ nearly ten million people in the US alone. And for the US economy, franchises drive over $830 billion worth of output. There are quite a few reasons why franchises will continue to be such a significant driver throughout so many different industries.

Choosing to hit the ground running with a franchise opportunity means you'll be able to leverage an established brand, enjoy economies of scale and utilize the best training within that industry. Additionally, you'll also reap that benefits that go along with having established systems, marketing approaches that have already been tested and support from other people who own a business just like yours.

What Makes the Home Improvement Industry an Attractive Opportunity?

Although there are one or more franchises available within just about any industry, that doesn't mean they're equally appealing. If you want to own a franchise with the most upside possible, it needs to be in a large industry. And thanks to the fact that consumer spending on home remodeling projects is expected to top $125 billion in the US, the home repair and improvement industry provides exactly the type of scale that you want.

While there's no shortage of opportunity within this industry, in order to tap into it, you need to be able to reach and close customers. Even though that may sound like a daunting task, when you have all the training and support that House Doctors provides to its franchise owners, it actually becomes quite manageable.

Live the Life You Truly Want

There's a lot of value for spending some years of your life working for someone else. During that time, you can learn invaluable skills that you can later use to accomplish anything you want. But just because there's value in that learning process doesn't mean you want to be chained to someone else for your entire life. If you want to take control of your financial future, House Doctors is a great opportunity. Once you become a franchise owner, you'll feel like you're finally living the life you truly want and deserve! Handyman franchise and handyman services update

This time of year is always busy but the last few weeks have been even busier here at House Doctors franchisor and our franchises like House Medic handyman services in Round Rock and Austin with the launch of our new websites and the introduction of a new internet strategy. This is always a busy time for our franchisees as homeowners prepare for the holidays and this year as a franchisor over the last few weeks we've been involved with webinars for existing franchisees, training for new franchisees, end of year supplier negotiations, and the planning of our Annual Convention. All part of a franchisor's role as we build a National home improvement Brand.

House Doctors and House Medic Handyman Site Already Performing

The new site has drawn nothing but praise. Easier to navigate, tells people better what we do, looks more professional, presents products much better. These are just a few comments we have had from both franchisees and customers. The new site stats are already very  impressive. Launching new sites tends to be a bit unpredictable in the early days as far as performance goes however I'm glad to report our visits to the new site are already up, time visitors spend on the site is also up and bounce rate is down. It just launched two months ago but the initial signs are very good.
The launch of the site is just another step on our journey as we build a leading Brand in the home improvement industry. What I like about it is the opportunity it gives us to build content that our customers will really enjoy and find useful. At present our new site is in it's infancy but we have exciting plans for it's future.
Now with the launch behind us we are working on producing content monthly to build the site. To drive traffic to any site today you need quality content. Google wants to see sites with good quality content ranking so as to provide their users with the best quality search experience possible. They are the number one search engine and they want to stay there.
Maybe a lesson for us all. Giving your customers the best experience possible when dealing with you, no matter what industry you are in, will keep them coming back.
As we progress through December we look forward to our Annual Convention in New Orleans at the end of January. That will prove to be another milestone for the company as our top performers come together to, network, meet vendors, hear of new programs and discuss our future strategies.

Take a look at our new site www.housedoctors.com and please let me know what you think.
